We have 5 pilot sites that are participating in the Canadian PD Project! The pilot sites are Vancouver General Hospital, BC, Kelowna General Hospital, BC, Toronto East General Hospital, ON, Trillium Health Centre, ON, and Joseph Brant Memorial Hospital, ON. Winnipeg Health Sciences Centre, MB, is no longer participating in the project. The pilot sites are currently implementing PD in their facilities.  The sites have finished the collection of baseline measurement data, and have completed a first round of social network mapping.

The Project:

  • We have recruited 5 Canadian hospitals to act as PD pilot sites over an 18 month period. These hospitals will go through the process together.
  • We are providing PD coaching, local training, and close mentoring throughout the process.
  • Via the PD process, these hospitals will empower staff to apply their knowledge and unique experiences to address ongoing infection control issues within their own facilities and nursing units to bring about sustainable culture change and decreases in MRSA and CD.
  • This project also aims to help develop local expertise in PD in order to enable future PD projects in the Canadian healthcare system.
